Want to improve your blog? Want to put that final gloss of professionalism on it? You should consider an editor to put the finishing touches on all your blog posts and articles!
I currently offer two different levels of editing for blogs and articles: copyediting and proofreading.
What is Copyediting?
Copyediting is where I correct spelling, grammar, word usage, punctuation, consistency in narrative, and any other errors I may come across. Essentially, I go line-by-line through your submitted article or blog post and make corrections and suggestions in order to tighten and refine the article. I also do fact-checking where necessary and requested. Sometimes, this is referred to as “line editing.”
What is Proofreading?
Proofreading is where I double-check the blog post or article in question for errors, both typographical and the most egregious of basic grammatical, along with problems with typesetting and formatting. This is strictly a last pass for glaring errors in the text to clean up anything missed during the writing and reviewing process.
How Much Do I Charge for Copyediting Blogs and Articles?
While all rates for the blog and article copyediting are negotiable depending on the depth of the project, I generally charge $0.0065/word for copyediting. The simple way to calculate an estimate for the cost of copyediting your article or blog post is to multiply the post/article’s word count by $0.0065. For example, for a 1,500-word article:
1,500 x 0.0065 = $9.75
However, I will negotiate different rates for long-term/repeat work. Please inquire if you are looking for a copyeditor for your blog or articles on a long-term basis.
How Much Do I Charge for Proofreading Blogs and Articles?
While all rates for the blog and article proofreading are negotiable depending on the depth of the project, I generally charge $0.0045/word for proofreading. The simple way to calculate an estimate for the cost of copyediting your article or blog post is to multiply the post/article’s word count by $0.0045. For example, for a 1,500-word article:
1,500 x 0.0045 = $6.75
However, I will negotiate different rates for long-term/repeat work. Please inquire if you are looking for a proofreader for your blog or articles on a long-term basis.
The above rates also apply to other forms of short work, including copyediting or proofreading newsletters, marketing materials, and anything else you can think of. Have questions? Please contact me and let’s see what we can work out!
How Long Does It Take Me to Copyedit or Proofread a Blog Post or Article?
This is largely dependent on the length of the article. I can typically complete a copyedit within 3 hours of receipt of the article and a proofread within 2 hours of receipt of the article.
How Do I Accept Payment?
I send invoices via Zoho Books. Thanks to their setup, I am able to accept Paypal and all major credit and debit cards. I also accept payment via Zelle bank transfer, and in addition, I can accept payments via check or money order on special request.
Due to the nature of this work, since it generally has a low per-article/post charge, unless otherwise negotiated or requested, billing will take place on a bi-weekly basis.
Once invoiced, payment is due within 15 days of invoicing. If payment has not been made by the end of the 15th day, a $15 late fee will be added to the total fee, and another $15 late fee will be charged for every 15 days that the invoice fails to be paid.
